Pier Entrance Project 2028

The Pier celebrates its 100th birthday in 2028 and San Clemente Pier Conservancy is focused on improving the Pier Entrance at Avenida Victoria. This transportation-anchored project is especially crucial as Trestles hosts the 2028 Summer Olympics. RSM Design, Community Catalyst, the City of San Clemente and Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley are working together to accomplish three goals.

First, we intend to encourage awareness and greater use of the railroad underpass, a safe alternative for Pier and beach access. Public art created through our Art on the Pier program will be a key feature to create a sense of invitation to the Pier. The art focus will be on San Clemente History and marine life with a local call for artists later this year.

Second, we seek to minimize traffic congestion on Avenida Victoria where 2 million visitors a year arrive via SC Trolley, Metrolink, e-bike, automobile and foot.

Third, this project will open the majestic view corridor to the Pier in keeping with the Pier’s origins. Look for an expanded waiting area for the SC Trolley, more seating and coastal, drought-tolerant landscape solutions that open up the historic view corridor.

Pier Railing Replacement

San Clemente Pier Conservancy has partnered with the City to identify a lower maintenance composite alternative to replace and refresh the worn wooden railings along the Pier. The new alternative has been successfully tested and will be installed Pier-wide after Labor Day this year. Limited sponsorship opportunities are possible. Interested?
