Three Pathways to a Permanent Legacy

There are several ways to make a gift that ensures the future of the Pier. The three most common methods are:

  • Direct Bequest: Make a direct bequest to the San Clemente Pier Conservancy in your will or living trust.
  • Beneficiary Designation: Name the San Clemente Pier Conservancy as a beneficiary of your retirement plan (IRA, 401(k)), life insurance policy, bank account, or mutual fund.
  • Charitable Remainder Trust: Donate to the San Clemente Pier Conservancy through a Charitable Remainder Trust, which can provide you with a lifetime income stream.

In appreciation of your generosity, you will be permanently recognized for your gift and honored at our events.

How to Make Your Gift

When revising or creating a will or living trust, we strongly recommend you consult an estate planning attorney who can advise you on the best way to structure your gift.

The sample language below is provided as a guide for you and your attorney in the process.

For a Trust:

  • “My trustee shall distribute __% of my trust property to San Clemente Pier Conservancy, EIN#32-0515984. If the Conservancy is no longer in existence, then to the City of San Clemente to be used exclusively to preserve and enhance the San Clemente Pier.”

For a Will:

  • “I leave the sum of $__ to San Clemente Pier Conservancy, EIN#32-0515984. If the Conservancy is no longer in existence, then to the City of San Clemente to be used exclusively to preserve and enhance the San Clemente Pier.”
